Hello, my name is Michelle Rosoff and I have been a licensed mental health therapist for my entire adult life. In 2016 my life changed when I suddenly and tragically lost my 17 year old daughter Rachel. I truly understand how all the complexities of our lives change after you hear the words,”your child has died."
“Vilomah” is the term that describes a parent who has lost a child. The word comes from Sanskrit, which means “against the natural order”. No parent should ever have to bury their child, life has a natural order so we are taught, and in that order, children are supposed to outlive their parents. But sometimes and all too often there comes a time where parents have to do the unimaginable and bury their children.
Vilomah healing counseling provides counseling for all who are dealing with life stressors. we see clients struggling with depression, anxiety, family issues, marital issues and simply anyone who is looking for extra support or help with navigating through life.
We are a unique support for bereaved parents in that counseling services are provided by a licensed mental health therapist who has also experienced the unimaginable tragedy of losing her 17-year-old daughter, Rachel Rosoff, and knows firsthand the pain and struggles associated with losing a child. Whether you physically lost a child or experienced loss from being estranged from your child. We can help. Vilomah healing utilizes numerous conventional and unconventional methods for healing by your Vilomah therapist, which involves different types of therapy, counseling, non-traditional healing (out of the box) practices as well as someone who truly understands just how deep this loss cuts. When I refer to Healing, it does not mean “forgetting” or “getting over” your child’s death, but rather learning how to embrace both their life and death and cherish the memories and lessons you learned from your angel. They are not gone, our kids are still very present, so we still need to acknowledge and love them as we always did and not allow their death to end our relationship, we just need to learn to connect with them differently.
The “healing” process can be a complex and deeply personal process, often we Vilomahs feel very misunderstood, even by those professionals who specialize in Grief. No one can truly understand the impact losing your child has unless they experience this horrific tragedy firsthand.
Sessions can be held in person or via zoom. In person is always my preference, but if you do not live locally or prefer not to meet in person zoom sessions are offered.
